Enchanted Stables review

For me boarding at this facility was not "enchanted". Anyone considering boarding here is well advised to get a clear contract as Helen requires full payment in advance. When one of my horses needed to leave early for rehabilitation due to an injury, Helen refused to make reasonable concessions on my lease for the variable expenses of hay, grain, and shavings for the last 6 weeks.

Additionally at the beginning of the season she stated that she fed only high quality timothy/alfalfa hay but as the season progressed, I found my horses' hay to be one half straw.

Below is a memo I sent to her to attempt to arrive at a reasonable solution to the early termination of my lease. First, I delivered it by hand. A few days later, she said she never received it "her cats ate it". Then I gave her another copy at which point she became hostile and refused to respond or even speak to me; her way of not dealing. So be warned.

RE: Departure Settlement for Nabucco

May 4, 2008

As you know I am leaving on May 13th, 4 days before the end of my lease payment to you for full care for two horses. We arrived at Enchanted Stables on October 17th so the 7 month lease is up on May 17th.

Nabucco left your barn on 3/7/08. I prepaid his stall and food bill through May 17th. Because he departed early, you did not have to provide hay, grain or shavings for him for 9 weeks. I assume responsibility for the lease of the stall itself, even though you filled the stall with another horse and made no payment to me.

When you thought my lease was up mid-April, you established the value of $300/month plus two bales of grain and two bales of hay and shavings for my trailer for what you said was fair compensation for Nabucco’s early departure. That was for one month.

As we now know, he left over 9 weeks before my lease was up, so I expect cash compensation of at least $400 for the grain, hay and shavings not used in the 5 weeks in question plus the promised grain, hay and shavings.
